Lif urges five priorities for Denmark’s next government

Keeping Denmark competitive in life science is a political choice.

Lif has published five priorities it says a new Danish government should focus on to maintain Denmark’s position as a leading life science country-linking innovation with patient treatment.

What Lif is calling for:

  • Maintain Denmark’s leading position: ensure conditions that let research and new ideas grow, supporting jobs, growth, and a high-performing health system.
  • Faster access to medicines: reduce barriers from bureaucracy and complex reference pricing systems so patients can access new treatments without unnecessary waiting.
  • Health as an investment: view health spending as benefiting individuals and society, including through fewer people becoming ill.
  • Prioritise research: spend at least 1% of GDP on research (and ideally more) to secure future solutions.
  • Make Denmark attractive for production: strengthen competitiveness and infrastructure to retain manufacturing and jobs.
