Kela, the Social Insurance Institution of Finland, has announced changes effective 1 May 2026 to special reimbursement entitlement 112 (severe psychoses and other severe mental health disorders). Under entitlement 112, several medicines used for these conditions are eligible for 100% special reimbursement.

What changes from 1 May 2026

  • The update particularly concerns the definition of bipolar disorder, especially mixed episodes.

  • The statement-issuing body and related terminology will be updated to reflect current practice.
